I am Rana, the creator behind Tamil Soundbooks. The audio your children hear throughout these books is recorded in my own voice, carefully developed with love to create a warm, familiar, and personal learning experience.

Ever since I was a little girl, I loved three things deeply: books, creativity, and teaching. I could spend hours surrounded by books, completely fascinated by stories, learning, and imagination. At the same time, I was always the one happily sharing what I knew with younger children, turning learning into something playful and joyful. I also loved drawing, designing, and expressing my creativity through art.

As I grew older, another passion naturally joined the journey: business and entrepreneurship. I later earned my degree in Business & Economics from the University of Zurich, but my creative heart, love for books, and the “teacher” within me never disappeared.

Then came the most challenging and yet most beautiful chapter of my life: motherhood. This chapter brought endless love, but also a lot of responsibility.
After becoming a mother myself, I started searching for a playful and effective way to teach Tamil to my children, not only by speaking Tamil at home, but by truly helping them build a connection to their roots, language, and culture. But I quickly realised something many young parents experience. Between busy school schedules, work, everyday family life, and the limited learning materials designed for children growing up abroad, teaching Tamil consistently can feel overwhelming. I wished for modern and motivating books that would naturally fit into our daily lives here.

One day, while thinking deeply about this challenge, an idea was born: What if children could learn Tamil naturally through listening, repetition, interaction, and play anytime and anywhere, without pressure? At the same time, what if I could make life easier for parents like myself while still fulfilling our heartfelt responsibility to pass on our mother tongue to the next generation?

That was the moment I sat down in front of my computer and started creating my very first Tamil Soundbook. Day by day, month by month, I built each page with love, patience, and purpose.

From the very beginning, the vision was clear: to create Tamil learning books adapted to the European school system and focused on practical, everyday spoken language for daily use, starting with basic vocabulary and topics, and gradually moving into reading, writing, and grammar in a child friendly way. Most importantly, I wanted to create a truly valuable learning experience where children can enjoy Tamil naturally, even if they or their parents cannot yet read Tamil themselves.

Our first book, as well as future books currently in development, has been enriched with feedback from parents and carefully reviewed together with Tamil teachers.

Today, I realise more than ever that Tamil Soundbooks reflect everything I am passionate about: books, design, teaching children, creativity, and entrepreneurship.

Because children learn best when learning does not feel like learning. So let’s make Tamil fun, simple, and accessible for the next generation and easier for us parents too.
